So my pack lunch from the early 80s would consist of either Ham sandwich or a the cheap as fck salmon paste (ggogle - 80's uk salmon paste) not the branded one, normally tesco's own brand, you could use it to fill holes in walls with this stuff, and yes a plastic cup with cling film with a pop off thin plastic lid filled with orange squash, store brand crisps.

I think a lot of us here in the UK find the concept of putting sweet with savoury. Scones and chicken actually sounds repulsive. Yep Steak and Kidney is real kidney 🙂 tastes really good (we have Steak and Kidney Pudding as well), Other flavours of pie, Steak, Steak and Ale, Minced Beef and Onion, Chicken, Potato (one of my favourites), Leek (one of my least favourite) . . . . and more and more, we do love our pies 🙂 As US chicken is banned in the UK I suspect our chicken tastes better than the US. Krushems are a must from KFC, a thick milkshake that are blended with a flavoured sauce and a choice of "krushed" item, this could be Kit Kat, Oreo, Aero, Mint Aero, Milky Bar chocolate . . . . it does vary as to what is available 🙂

To my knowledge it is not commonly used in the Northern Hemisphere, but is in the South, although I'm not so sure about Argentina and South Africa. Certainly in Aotearoa, ( New Zealand, home of the' All Blacks ' ), and the Pacific Islands, and particularly in Australia, it is often heard. Though probably not so common in regard to Soccer ( which is always referred to as ' Football ' in Europe, while Rugby Union is quite widely played in some countries, and League less so.), both Rugby codes have ' Footy ' as a nickname from early schoolboy level through to ' Boomers ' in the stadiums . In Australia the term is heavily used, mostly in League, then Union, and, no doubt, in Aussie Rules too.
